What to do in Ucluelet/Tofino BC

Hello everyone! Living on the west coast is awesome and I love taking the opportunity to see more amazing places! When I was younger, me and my family would take a yearly trip for a couple of nights to Tofino. I loved spending time with my family away from home. Now that I have my own little family, I want to be able to show our kids some fun places I went as a child as well as so much more!

This past weekend we took a trip to Ucluelet / Tofino! We had planned this trip back in September (before we really started planning the wedding) so now we are treating it as a “honeymoon or baby moon” sort of thing!

On Saturday we drove up and spent the day admiring our beautiful island. We settled into our cabin and relaxed for the night. Sunday was full of activities and good food. First we went for a small hike to the Ucluelet lighthouse, and let me tell you, being 24 weeks pregnant and not being in shape makes for a difficult hike, lol!

After, we headed to Tofino, and when in Tofino, grabbing a taco at the tacofino truck is a must! Except the line up was literally 40 people long so we went to the next best place! Wild side grill, yummy salmon burgers and golden fish n’ chips, so good.

We drove into town to grab some souvenirs at a cute little gift shop and then went straight to the beach! We got there just in time for the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen!

For our last day, we knew we wanted to do some more adventuring and relaxing before the long drive home. A quick trip to the Ucluelet aquarium was first on our list. I had gone about 8 or so years ago with my family and I remember loving it, so I wanted to show Ben all of the fun sea creatures!

Next, we headed to a small cafe for some coffee and a snack. They have the most amazing peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, to die for! If you’re in Ucluelet then going to Barkley’s cafe is a must. I may or may not have gotten a couple cookies just for the drive home!

Places we ate:

Wild side grill – Tofino

Barkley’s cafe – Ucluelet

Ukee dogs – Ucluelet

Places we went:

Ucluelet aquarium

Ucluelet lighthouse (3km walk/hike)

Cabins at Terrace beach (where we stayed)

Long beach

Driftwood gifts

Places we stopped on our way home:

Cathedral trail at MacMillan park

Coombs market – Goats on the roof

I’ve always love going to the west coast and I hope my children grow up to love the coast as much as I do!
